Vaseux Lake Bird Blind
Vaseux Lake, 2014
This replacement for an existing bird blind becomes an essay in wood construction. A grid of vertical posts is tied together with rough sawn planks to create stairs, railings and platforms. This is wrapped in a thin veil of cedar slats, to screen the visitors from view, and from the weather. The blind is a solitary human foray into a wild world, and for much of the time will exist without us. It is designed to discourage the local rodents from staying long, but with built in roosts to accommodate the swallows.
