Landform receives Commercial Building Awards

Landform received two awards at the recent Thompson Okanagan Commercial Building Awards in Kelowna.

The first award was for Little Learners Academy, the new daycare at Okanagan College, which won for best institutional building.  Little Learners is the first Passive House certified child care facility in Canada. Passive House certification, originating in Germany, is one of the most stringent energy-efficiency standards in the world.  By achieving this standard, the day care becomes the most energy efficient building in the Okanagan. The 4,000 square foot facility was built on an extremely tight timeline by local construction company Ritchie Contracting Ltd.

Landform won a second award for the 8th Generation Vineyard tasting room, which was built by Sterling Contracting of Oliver. This award was for best renovation. “We took a 1940s farmhouse, and removed everything from the interior to expose the studs and plank sheathing, revealing the many generations of construction in the building,” says Chris Allen, principal.

Landform was also nominated in a third category for the Unit Electrical Engineering Building in Okanagan Falls, built by Greyback Construction.
