Born Mathias
Naramata, 2019
This project started with a massive rock pile, deposited by a previous landowner, in the middle of an otherwise pristine rural site. The house was placed on the most damaged part of the land, to heal and stitch the property together. Three shed-roofed boxes hover over the landscape, allowing for free exterior circulation between and below the volumes. A bridge element allows natural drainage to flow under the building. Interiors are bright and open, with direct connection to the gardens, lavender fields, and natural landscape beyond.
